Custom handmade revolver grips

Small numbers of custom handmade grips for a limited selection of classic revolvers are available from Foster Barker on this website.  The grips are made from goncalo alves hardwood imported from the forests of Brazil.  My goncalo alves grips are two piece and made by hand exclusively by me here in the USA for select models of Smith & Wesson and Colt revolvers.  Goncalo alves is a light colored hardwood with rich dark grain and is the most favored wood for grips among handgun enthusiasts because of the natural beauty and durability of the wood.  Decades ago, some Smith & Wesson revolvers were available with factory goncalo alves target grips.  Over the years, these grips became too expensive to produce and were eventually discontinued as factory original grips.

Grip making process

My grips are not mass produced, but are meticulously hand crafted one at a time and fitted to an actual gun frame for a tight custom fit.  Some are modeled after the size and shape of the old factory originals and some are my own custom design.  I do not offer checkering simply because I do not have the time to checker grips.  When available, I use two inch thick wood split in two halves to make matching pairs of grips.  When only one inch thick wood is available, I use adjacent pieces of wood folded over to make matching pairs of grips.  Only goncalo alves wood imported from Brazil is used for my grips.  The grips have machined brass escutcheons with a stainless steel screw to hold them securely in place.  After much experimenting with a variety of finishes, I chose a semi gloss rub on polyurethane as the standard finish for my grips.  For an additional fee, I offer a rub on tung oil finish.  The tung oil finish will slightly darken the wood and requires extra coats, but is the most durable finish available for wood.  Because of the hours of work I put into these grips, the price is far below the cost of production.  I make grips as quickly as I can on a first come first serve basis.  At times I am backed up with orders and it can take about three to five weeks for delivery.  Your patience is much appreciated.

90 day money back guarantee

If for any reason you are dissatisfied with my grips, simply return them within 90 days of receiving them for a full refund of your purchase price.  I will mail you a refund chick when I receive the returned grips.

Goncalo alves is also known as tigerwood because of its orangey tan background and dark stripes giving it a tiger like look.  It is native to the tropic forests of Brazil, Bolivia, Peru, Guatemala, and Mexico.
